On October 18 I attended the dedication of the "World of Good" mural. It's beautiful, and the story of how it came to be in the midst of Covid (and post-Covid, as we like to call it) is fascinating. It's the product of work by teens from ArtStart and from Analy's art class taught by Tera Crawford. From original design to final mural panels the process required a huge collaborative and creative effort. The materials part alone is fascinating: the design elements of each mural, once decided upon, were separated and distributed among many teen artists, who then painted them as individual pieces. All those separate parts (a leaf, a flower, a guitar, etc, etc) were then combined to create an impressive fully integrated final panel. Click here for ArtStart website and photos of the process followed for this project. Even better, go by Goodwill in Sebastopol and gaze upon the mural panels yourself. (6826 Sebastopol Ave). It's well worth the effort.
